Gigi's Story: Looking For Love
Gigi was lonely, but there was something in her perfect living room (the space designed for fellowship) that made her avoid it like the plague. Instead, she lived in her bedroom, a room filled with childhood and family mementos.
After a session with Kathryn, Gigi realized that prominently displayed art gifts from an old boyfriend were still in her living room and making her avoid the room. How could she invite new suitors into a space occupied with negative memories from her romantic past? Kathryn and Dawn showed Gigi some small simple steps to make big changes in her life. First she purged, then redesigned her bedroom and took back the living room. Notice in the final image that while Gigi bought a bed large enough for two, she still only has one bedside table. Making changes is an ongoing process that takes time and patience. Here's her story: |
Audrey's Story: A Lack of Support
Audrey's generous spirit of giving to others often meant she didn't get the support she needed for herself. This emotional dysfunction showed up in her home's decrepit kitchen, not surprisingly, the support center of the home.
When viewing the video, take notice of the row of empty pill bottles lined up over the door that Kathryn is pointing up to. Audrey's adult son, who'd had a nervous breakdown, placed them there. For Audrey, they acted as a daily reminder of his ongoing needs. With Kathryn and Dawn's help, Audrey repeatedly voiced her own needs as she began repairing her room of nurturance. And to her surprise, family members began to hear her. Audrey's since-recovered son was encouraged to convert the empty medication bottles into a piece of transformational artwork that represented his healing, instead of his illness. It was a salute to his mother, instead of a drain on her. Here's her story: |
